Welfare One is a UK engineering company building privacy-preserving welfare monitoring for healthcare, care, and custodial environments.
Welfare One began after I heard what someone close to me went through at a facility with camera-based welfare monitoring. I knew that there was a better way to do this. One that protects privacy and dignity, gives care staff the information they need, and most importantly makes the person in the room feel cared for rather than surveilled.
What we believe
Continuous oversight is a serious thing to put in a room. We built Welfare One on the assumption that every person in the room is a human being first and a subject of monitoring second. Every product decision follows from that.
Welfare One does not capture images, record audio, or store biometric data. These are not features we removed or chose to leave out. The platform was designed from the start to ensure physical welfare and nothing more.
Welfare One is a healthcare company in every environment we serve. That framing holds in care homes, on inpatient wards, in clinical settings, and in custodial environments. The product exists solely for the welfare of the person in the room.
Care, mental health, and custodial environments are regulated environments. Audit trails, access controls, and data governance are part of how the platform works at every level, not features added on top of an existing design.
Welfare One is engineered at every layer for accuracy in what the platform detects, intelligence in how it interprets what it sees, and resilience in how it behaves when conditions are not ideal.
What we install today will continue to be upgraded and supported for years, without rip-and-replace or forced migrations. The platform is designed to evolve, making us a long-term partner rather than a one-time supplier.
Our product
Welfare One is built as a single platform with two product tiers. Core handles the urgent moments where staff need to know someone needs help. Clinical adds vital signs and the slower work of identifying deterioration.
Available now
Our foundational welfare monitoring platform for care, mental health, clinical, and custodial environments. Continuous, contactless, privacy-preserving.
Explore Welfare One Core →The next tier of the platform, designed to add vital signs monitoring and pattern-based deterioration alerting to the same hardware footprint. In development, pending regulatory approval.
Explore Welfare One Clinical →Team leadership
Welfare One is built by a small UK team. These are the four people leading the engineering, manufacturing, and product work.

We are talking with care providers, mental health services, clinical teams, and custody authorities about what continuous, contactless welfare monitoring could look like in their environments. If that is you, we want to hear from you.
