Welfare One Core

Privacy-first UWB radar.
No cameras. Ever.

Welfare sensing built on a new generation of ultra-wideband radar, giving staff continuous awareness between manual checks. It looks out, without ever watching.

What Welfare One Core does

A welfare platform unlike others.

A different class of sensor combined with a purpose-built intelligence layer, designed around the realities of welfare check workflows in care, mental health, and custodial environments.

Sensing

Presence detection

Knows when a room is occupied and when it isn't.

Occupancy count

Counts how many people are in the room at once.

Multi-person tracking

Tracks several people in the same space individually.

Position in room

Locates where in the room each person is.

Posture classification

Distinguishes standing, sitting, and lying down.

Through-bedding sensing

Sees through blankets and clothing without intrusion.

Movement

Movement detection

Detects motion in real time, room by room.

Movement classification

Categorises the kind of movement that's happening.

Prolonged stillness

Flags when someone has been still longer than expected.

Micro-movement

Picks up the small motions of a living, breathing body.

Dwell time per position

Tracks how long is spent in each part of the room.

Fall detection

Recognises the pattern of a fall as it happens.

Pattern Intelligence

Activity rhythm learning

Learns each room's typical daily activity pattern.

Behavioural pattern detection

Identifies when activity deviates from the usual.

Pattern-aware alerts

Alerts that adapt to context, not just to fixed timers.

Configurable thresholds

Tune sensitivity per room, per environment, per use.

Plain-English status

"No movement for 45 minutes." Not sensor values.

Multi-signal alert logic

Combines signals to reduce false alerts.

Workflow

Scheduled welfare checks

Per-room intervals, configured to local policy.

Overdue check prompts

Reminders surface when a check is past due.

Welfare check logging

Every check timestamped against the staff member.

Occupant assignment

Assign and discharge with configurable terminology.

Alert lifecycle

Raised, acknowledged with note, resolved. Never deleted.

Spatial room visualisation

Live view of where the occupant is in the room.

Privacy by design

No cameras. No microphones. No wearables.

Welfare One uses ultra-wideband radar, harmless low-power radio waves that detect the smallest micro-movements in a room, including movements too small to see with the naked eye. From these micro-movements alone, the platform delivers what previously took several separate pieces of specialist equipment.

It captures no images. It records no audio. It stores no biometric identifier. Privacy isn't a setting. It's a structural property of how the platform was built.

How the platform is built

A platform, not a single device.

A ceiling-mounted sensor in each room, an on-site server running the platform's operational logic, a dashboard for staff, and an optional cloud platform for multi-site oversight.

DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Local-first architecture

Operational data lives on the on-site server, where the system keeps running even if the internet connection drops. The cloud is an addition to the platform, never a dependency.

Real-time operation

Sensor data flows to the dashboard in real time, with no perceptible lag between an event and the alert it generates. Staff see what the system sees, the moment it happens.

Built to integrate

API-first architecture, designed to connect with the care management and clinical systems organisations already use. Welfare One fits into the digital infrastructure you already run.

Engineered for scrutiny

Audit logging, role-based access, and data governance designed in from the start. Built for CQC, HMICFRS, and clinical governance review without a last-minute evidence scramble.

Live room view

How they're doing.
Not what they're doing.

Click into any room from the dashboard and a spatial view opens. Live occupancy plotted against the room's actual floor plan. Where the person is, how long they've been there, when they last moved. The information staff need to know whether a check is required, with none of the information they don't.

Camera-based systems give staff access to far more than they need. Even where privacy controls exist, the cameras themselves change the experience of being cared for. Being watched on a screen, particularly in care and mental health settings, makes a person feel more like a prisoner than a patient.

Welfare One was built to remove that. See how a patient is doing, not what they are doing. The room view is the dignity-preserving alternative to the camera.

Live position view

Compliance and audit

Built for the inspection that's coming.

Care and custodial environments operate under continuous regulatory scrutiny. Welfare One is engineered so the evidence is ready before the inspector asks for it.

Welfare check compliance

Per-room scheduled checks with overdue prompts. Compliance percentages exportable for inspection.

Immutable audit trail

Every alert, acknowledgement, and welfare check is logged with timestamp and staff identity. Records can be amended; nothing is removed.

Role-based access

Permissions scoped to job function. Frontline staff see what they need to act on; senior staff and administrators see more.

PDF and CSV export

Compliance reports in the formats inspection and handover already use.

Deployment

A single cable per room.

Welfare One installs with the lightest possible footprint on the building it goes into. One ceiling unit per room, one PoE cable from the comms cupboard, and the on-site server in the rack you already have.

In the room

Discreet ceiling-mounted unit, powered and networked over a single PoE cable.

In the rack

Small-form-factor on-site server. Runs continuously and keeps running if the internet drops.

On the network

Standard Cat5e/RJ45 throughout. No specialist cabling.

Retrofit-ready

Designed to fit into existing buildings without structural change.

A complete welfare platform

Passive by design, complete by intent.

To be a complete welfare platform, Welfare One provides a way for the person to manually ask for help when they feel unwell or when something is wrong that the sensor can't see.

Resident-initiated call functionality runs on the same wiring, the same on-site server, the same dashboard, and the same audit trail. One platform, two layers of welfare oversight.

Available call hardware and configurations vary by environment. Speak to us about your deployment.

Core today · Clinical tomorrow

One platform. Two stages.

Welfare One Core is the foundation of the platform. Intelligent analysis of welfare based on the behavioural signals in each room.

Welfare One Clinical will be an optional upgrade that incorporates clinical vital-signs monitoring into the same intelligence layer.

Existing Core deployments upgrade in place once Clinical approval is obtained. No hardware swap, no rewire, no install team back on site.
